Before I did my digging deeper/challenges blog post, I wanted to post a planning post before so that I can gather my thoughts about this particular project. Instead of incorporating a visible clock, watch, etc. into a piece, I want to use time itself to create the art. I had an idea, and I'm not sure if this would work, because it involves science and art. I want to take a perishable food item, and put a few drops of food coloring in certain sections of that item. Then I want to compare the mold that grows in a non-colored portion to the mold that grows in a colored portion. The mold that grows on the colored portion might even be pretty!
My text art project is complete! I finished it on Friday. After I painted the entire canvas, I decided to repaint it because the green parts looked streaky. After I decided the colors were smooth enough, I outlined "Minecraft" in pencil, and filled it in with black acrylic paint using a small brush.
I've started this project with paint and a canvas. I applied gesso to a previously used canvas to prime it, then separated the sections that I will put different shades of green in. The outcome is going to be a creeper from minecraft, with the word minecraft under it's face (or above, wherever there is more room). So far I've colored about half of the canvas, but the way the paint is going on, I think I'll need to do more than one coat.
I like this one because it's Gir from Invader Zim. It creates the outline of his character using periods, letters, and numbers. I thought this one was funny because it was a text art about text art haha I love how realistic this one looks, even though its made from letters. Instead of this one being a face or character, it's the Eiffel Tower, which is cool This one is great because they make the walking dead text look super scary
